On June 16, 2023, the Latvijas Vēstnesis (official publication) published the amendments to the Law "On State Pensions" adopted by the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia on June 15, 2023, which will enter into force on June 17, 2023.
Amendments to the Law "On State Pensions" (hereinafter - the Law) provide for the granting of a Latvian old-age and survivor's pension to a person who permanently lives outside the territory of Latvia in a country that is not a member of the European Union, a country of the European Economic Area or a country with which a cooperation agreement has not been concluded in the field of social security (hereinafter - the third country), if it has the right to this pension under the provisions of the Law, and also determines the conditions for recalculation and payment of the granted pension for those living in third countries.
According to the fourth part of Article 3 of the Law, a person who permanently lives in a third country and has fulfilled the conditions provided for in the Law for granting the Latvian old-age and survivor's pension has the right to a Latvian pension. Only now, persons who moved to an permanent residence abroad (non-EU, including Israel), did not have such a right, but now is!
